Rebecca Coleman Speech & Language Therapist

Rebecca is a passionate and committed speech and language therapy assistant with a range of experience supporting children and young adults.

Rebecca has worked in mainstream education as a primary school Teaching Assistant. During this time, she provided one-to-one and group interventions for children with a range of language and communication difficulties. In particular, children with autism spectrum disorder and English as an additional language. Rebecca’s interventions are always centred around the child’s happiness and well-being. She tailors each session to fit the needs of every child, always ensuring the child’s particular interests or passions are incorporated in the activities she delivers.

Rebecca graduated from the Manchester Metropolitan University in summer 2019. After attaining a Primary Postgraduate Certificate in Education, she spent the following 3 years working in primary schools.

Rebecca has worked in mainstream education as a Teacher and Teaching Assistant. In these roles, Rebecca has supported both the mainstream class, as well as working one-to-one and with small groups of children with learning difficulties. Rebecca became interested in speech and language therapy after seeing the frustration that some children experience when they struggle to communicate and the impact this has on their learning and social interactions. Being bilingual herself, Rebecca has a special interest in helping children with multiple languages to be confident and happy and educating school staff on the advantages of bilingualism.

Rebecca is hoping to use the knowledge and experience gained at SLT for kids to assist with her further studies in becoming a fully qualified speech and language therapist.
