Q&A

What inspired you to become a Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist?

I was looking for a career where I could make a meaningful difference to other people’s lives. There is nothing more rewarding. I also loved science, languages and being creative, and really enjoyed volunteering with children and adults with social/ communication needs. Therefore Speech & Language Therapy seemed like a perfect fit!

What additional training do you have?

I don’t have any additional qualifications, but I access a lot of CPD to make sure I am always delivering the best care to the children, families and school I work with

Is there a speech, language, communication or swallowing condition you enjoy working with the most?

I love working with a wide range of Speech & Language needs, and being able to develop skills in a wider range of areas. However, I particularly enjoy working with children who need help with their speech sounds, or stammering. I love seeing the children grow in confidence, and seeing how this makes such a difference to their lives.

What do you like doing in your spare time?

I enjoy creating artwork, reading lots (and lots) of books, playing Korfball, and I’m trying to teach myself how to play the keyboard

What is your favourite thing about being a speech and language therapist with SLT for Kids?

I love working in our amazing schools, and I also love working with our absolutely fabulous SLT For Kids team. It is a true privilege to work with such a talented, caring, supportive group of therapists.
